Introduction: page 1 of 1
OS MasterMap® Integrated Transport Network™ (ITN) Layer maps Great Britain's road network - from motorways to pedestrian streets and alleys.
Ideal for route planning or to manage your resources, it consists of three elements: Road Network (road geometry), Road Routing Information (routing information for drivers on mandatory and banned turns and other restrictions) and Urban Paths (man-made path geometry in urban areas).
This demonstrator will provide a technical explanation of all three themes
OS MasterMap ITN Layer is based on a relational model that uses references to the TOID to associate the road routing information to the physical network.
The diagram above show the Roads and RRI relationship. Using the direction of the arrows it is possible to determine how all the elements relate to each other.
This diagram describes the relationship between differing elements for Urban Paths
This diagram describes the relationship between differing elements for all ITN themes
Urban Paths connect to the Road Network through Urban Path connectingNode referencing either a Road Network roadLink or a Road Network roadNode
